How Alin’s death shaped the Laslea family
Alin was Coen’s brother. He died after falling through thin ice on a lake while Coen watched and could not stop the accident; his death remains a source of grief for Coen and Esme rather than a present-day quest or encounter.
The family’s later troubles build around that loss. Esme’s character entry describes how Alin’s death, the plague and the vampire takeover contributed to her withdrawal from family life, while Lunka is listed as Coen’s younger sister and another member of the household affected by those events.
The family note To My Children mentions Alin’s passing alongside Esme’s sickness. Read it with the character entries for the parents and siblings to follow the family context without treating the letter’s mention as a separate quest involving Alin.
