Supernatural lights

Wisps

Wisps are the mysterious lights associated with the swamps at night. Local stories say they accept sorrow and other painful emotions as gifts. Those stories promise both hidden treasure and the possibility of being led astray among the dead.

My journey

Follow the lights and find the right treasure hunt

The dancing lights mark Wisp Treasure Hunts. Follow the wisps to discover what they want to show Coen, then search for their hidden treasure. The hunts are named after their surroundings, so use the name in your journal to choose the right map marker below.

There are six named hunts across Vale Sangora: East Road in Maragir Wealds, Watermill Hills in Briar Sloughs, Drawing Place in Boar’s Back, South Foot in Rockfalls, North Clearing in Tantari Woods and North Creek in The Silts.

Reaching the lights is only the beginning. The journal separates following the wisps from searching for the treasure and getting to the stash. Keep following the active objective after the lights lead you onward. A completed hunt records that Coen survived their trickery and found the treasure; choosing not to follow is a different ending.

Prepare for combat along the trail: East Road leads past a pair of bandits, Watermill Hills has a bear and Drawing Place has wolves. Bring healing supplies before approaching the lights so you can continue the hunt after the encounter.

If you have Shadowstep, visit North Clearing at night to follow the lights more easily. Plan around that movement option if the route is giving you trouble.

Wisp hunts can also lead to skill manuals. Look east of Maragir Wealds Shrine for the hunt associated with Herbal Remedies I, or west of Sloughside Mill Shrine for the Frugal Witchcraft reward location. Check the manual you receive before planning a skill rank, and use the skill-books guide for learning requirements and alternative sources.

North Creek and South Foot are also Witchcraft Manual locations. Follow each hunt through to its treasure chest and open it to collect the manual; reaching the lights is not the collection step.
