Region Levels in Vale Sangora

Compare regional level ranges, understand enemy warnings, spawn level offsets and incoming damage multipliers, then choose your next objective in Vale Sangora.

Vale Sangora regions and their base level ranges

Vale Sangora’s regions have different base NPC level ranges. Laslea Glen begins at 1–3, Boar’s Back is 22–30, and Greifberg Castle reaches 36–50. Use these ranges to compare areas, then check the warning on the quest or enemy you intend to approach.

Spawn offsets, spawn-point modifiers and the particular encounter can change the levels you face within a region.

Base enemy levels in all ten regions

Svartrau City and Greifberg Castle are separate. The city’s 17–25 range does not describe the castle’s 36–50 range, even though the castle is part of the city’s story. Anachora is not one of the ten areas in this level table.

Why enemies usually spawn a few levels above you

The base range is only the region’s floor and ceiling. When an enemy spawns, the game’s population settings add a level offset: +3 for ordinary enemies and +6 for bosses. Once Coen has outgrown a region’s range, a separate pair of offsets applies instead: ±0 for ordinary enemies and +4 for bosses. That is why a level 20 visit to Boar’s Back usually meets level 23 patrols rather than level 20 ones, and why a boss can still sit a little above you in an area you have outlevelled.

Individual spawn points also carry a designer-set modifier. These are placed in the world, not chosen in the difficulty menu, so two camps in the same region can produce differently levelled enemies.

Check the skull warning and the enemy’s displayed level before a fight, then use the level-gap damage table below.

Read the skull warning before committing to an encounter

The journal can warn that a quest is difficult at Coen’s current level. Enemies use the same three warning colours:

  • Yellow skull: increased difficulty.
  • Orange skull: a serious challenge.
  • Red skull: every mistake can be fatal.

These warnings apply to the selected objective or enemy. Do not use the lower end of an area’s range as the level of its boss, or assume that outlevelling an area removes its dangers.

Your Action and RPG difficulty settings also affect combat. The region table describes base NPC levels; the RPG difficulty table describes health, damage and stamina multipliers. Use each for its own part of the comparison.

Why enemies seven levels above you hit harder

Ordinary enemy combat attacks have a separate multiplier for the difference between the attacker’s level and Coen’s level. An enemy seven levels higher receives a 1.4× damage multiplier; at ten levels higher, that multiplier is 2.6×. Use the enemy’s actual level for this comparison, not the region’s minimum level.

Compare an enemy’s level with Coen

Enter the enemy’s actual level and Coen’s level, from 1 to 50. This comparison covers enemies up to ten levels lower or higher.

Incoming combat damage: level-gap multiplier1.4×The enemy is 7 levels higher than Coen.

40% more damage from this modifier, compared with 1×.

This is one multiplier for ordinary enemy combat attacks. Enemy attack strength, difficulty, armour, resistances and other effects still determine the damage Coen takes.

Level-gap multiplier for ordinary enemy combat damage
Enemy compared with CoenDamage multiplierChange from no gap modifier
8–10 levels lower0.5×−50%
7 levels lower0.6×−40%
6 levels lower0.7×−30%
5 levels lower0.8×−20%
4 levels lower0.9×−10%
3 levels lower through 6 levels higher1×No extra change
7 levels higher1.4×+40%
8 levels higher1.8×+80%
9 levels higher2.2×+120%
10 levels higher2.6×+160%

For example, a level 27 enemy attacking level 20 Coen uses the 1.4× row. At Coen’s level 21, the gap becomes six and this particular modifier returns to 1×. That does not make the fight equal: the enemy’s own attack strength, difficulty settings, armour, resistances and other effects still contribute to the damage you take.

This table describes incoming ordinary combat damage. It is not a formula for Coen’s damage, spell effects or damage over time, and it does not assign numerical thresholds to the skull colours. Improving your weapon’s item level can improve its damage, but it does not change Coen’s level in this comparison.

Choose an objective, then plan the visit

Open the region boundary map to compare all ten areas. Select a region to highlight its outline and base NPC levels, then use its quest and landmark links. The Regions controls let you show outlines with or without color fill and labels.

Open a region’s page to find its named landmarks and quest list. For example, Briar Sloughs links to its crossing and A Bulwark Against Darkness, while Tantari Woods connects to Tantari and A Deal with the Devil.

Save the place or quest to My journey, and review its time cost and day/night conditions. Scouting towers require vampire traversal; a merchant or conversation may need a different time of day.

The map’s area filter includes places with a listed region or a direct regional landmark relationship. Choose All areas to include every marker, or Region not listed to look through the other locations. A filtered area is not a complete checklist of everything inside its borders.

Before visiting Svartrau, check the active edicts for changes to shopping, patrols and city access. Enemy level is only one part of preparing for the trip.
