A note about a potential new way to complete a thankless task.
Collect the note after defeating the Barrow Lord
Follow the river south of Howling Keep to the excavation cave. Defeat the soldiers outside, climb through the opening and fight the Barrow Lord inside. Dodge away when he swings both swords together for his unblockable attack.
After the fight, inspect the low wooden table beside the cave wall and collect the Unsent Note. Picking up this document completes the quest and awards Ancient Champion’s Sword; searching the defeated enemy is a separate action.
Two different documents share the name Unsent Note. The excavation report is signed Hengest and describes a silver snake figurine killing a Blood Guard. The other is signed Ulina, addressed to Liyan, and concerns gathering kobold bile. Use the excavation report for this quest; Armaya’s Orders is another separate document.
