While wandering through a swampy piece of secluded land, I discovered something that caught my attention...
Follow the blood trail, then identify the monster
Lost Blood connects an abandoned blood transport in St. Tyna’s Grove with a nearby cave. Investigate the damaged cart in Focus Mode and follow the blood trail off the road. The quest also accounts for finding the cave first: examine the cave and follow its tracks back toward the transport if that is where your investigation began.
Defeat the creature and search its corpse, then investigate the lair. A distinctive ring carried by the monster and a letter in the cave point to a merchant in Svartrau’s Silberstein district. Those clues are the route from the fight to the answer about who the creature was; leaving after the kill can leave its identity unresolved.
Find the letter’s author in Silberstein and report what you found. The merchant’s son is the person who became the creature. After hearing that his son is dead, the merchant can close his shop in grief; the next objective is to wait for him to reopen and then return. Follow that objective rather than assuming the closed shop ends the quest.
The merchant conversation also has an outcome in which he refuses to speak because of Coen’s actions against the manumits. The investigation can therefore end with the creature dead but its story unfinished. Keep a manual save before major faction decisions if you want to compare their later consequences.
