Rank 2 makes Double Harvest a 100% chance
Forager rank 1 gives a 50% Double Harvest chance when gathering plants. Rank 2 raises that chance to 100% and has a manual requirement. The second rank costs one skill point and one time segment.
That makes the skill relevant when gathering herbs for repeated crafts. Search a material such as Comfrey in the crafting guide to see which preparations use it, then plan the quantity you need in My journey.
Record the manual unlock separately from your learned Forager rank. A book requirement becoming available is not the same as having paid for the second rank.

Shop selections change with story progress, loot varies by encounter and level, and carried equipment is separate from what an enemy may drop.
