Crafting and Alchemy Guide

Ingredients come from vendors, foraging and loot

Ingredient shops and shared materials

Plan a visit around the ingredients you need

Visit Vera during the day at her house between Briar Sloughs and Maragir Wealds. Her alchemy supplies include animal parts, Copper Sulfate, Sodium Carbonate, Undead’s Bone, Dust of Anachora, Parasol Mushroom, Chanterelle, Yellow Sweet Clover, Weak Spirits and Canteen of Water.

The Peddler of Wonders trades in southwestern Svartrau. His ingredient list includes Wolf Heart, Bear Liver, Wild Boar Kidney, Sodium Carbonate, Chalcanthum Solution, Perilla, Cave Fungus, Strong Spirits and Mercurial Water.

Reach the Matriarch’s shop through A Friend Like This and Song of the Mountain. Choose the peaceful dialogue with the village elder and follow her. Check her ingredients for Psoglav Claws, Dust of Anachora, Sodium Carbonate, Chalcanthum Solution, Cave Fungus, Chanterelle, Weak Spirits and Mercurial Water.

Anca can stock a broad range of herbs, mushrooms, animal parts and liquid bases, but her ingredient selection is limited and changes. After Between the Words, wait at least a day and find her at the Old Inn in St. Tyna’s Grove for Where Old Devils Lie; her location elsewhere follows her quest progress.

Reserve shared materials before crafting

Choose your finished preparations first, then add their ingredient quantities. At the listed base costs, one standard Regenerative Salve and one Venom Claws Ampoule need five Yellow Sweet Clover between them; one standard and one Potent Vigour Infusion need five Slippery Jacks.

For ability damage, one standard Aetheric Attunement plus one standard Vrakhiri Attunement uses four Sodium Carbonate. The Potent pair instead uses four Chalcanthum Solution. Check the strength in the recipe name before assigning your supplies.

Recipe books, ingredients and finished preparations are listed separately below. Open the finished preparation’s guide for its form, effect and tier comparison; use the ingredient entries to choose suppliers and reserve shared materials.

Open Crafting from the radial menu

Crafting is available from the beginning of the game, in the lower-left part of the radial menu. Select a preparation, check its ingredients and make it before the encounter where you need it. Recipe books and the consumables they produce have separate entries below.

Coen’s form matters. Daytime healing items cannot be used as nighttime vampire healing, and the reverse also applies. Check the current form and the item’s description before spending ingredients. For the wider differences between forms, see day and night systems.

Watch the duration icon. Some effects last seconds; others show an hourglass and last for time segments. The inventory tooltip shows the duration beside weight and value. Before starting an activity that advances time, check whether a useful buff will need to be reapplied afterward.

Read the day and night filters as use restrictions

The in-game Anytime, Day Only and Night Only filters group recipes by who can use the finished consumable. They do not require you to wait for that time of day before crafting. Day Only items are for Coen's human form, Night Only items are for his vampire form, and Anytime items work in either form.

Every recipe also has a limit on how many finished copies you can carry. The limit is 5 for 43 of the 44 recipes and 1 for the Razkovniche Elixir. When your inventory reaches that number, the game reports Crafting Limit Reached and will not make another copy even if you have the ingredients.

Check the finished item count. The supply checker below knows your recorded ingredients and recipe knowledge, but it does not know how many completed consumables are in your inventory. A Materials ready result can therefore still meet the in-game carry limit.

Use Amalgam to keep more time-based buffs active

Amalgam governs buffs from consumables whose duration is measured in time segments. Rank 1 allows a maximum of two of those buffs at the same time; rank 2 raises the maximum to three. The skill applies in both human and vampire form.

Both ranks require the Amalgam Manual and follow Herbal Remedies I. Each rank costs one skill point and one time segment. The skill description is limited to consumable buffs with time-segment durations, so do not use its two- or three-buff limit to judge instant healing or every other consumable effect.

Choose the effect your loadout needs

Healing, a larger health pool and faster regeneration solve different problems. Likewise, improving weapon damage does not describe the same effect as increasing claw damage or Witchcraft damage.

Which preparation to choose for each effect
What you wantPreparationWhat to compare
Restore health immediatelyMending OintmentInstant restoration, compared with Regenerative Salve’s regeneration.
Support staminaVigour Infusion or Revitalising TonicVigour increases maximum stamina; Revitalising improves regeneration.
Improve critical chanceKeen Eye PotionIts description covers both weapons and claws. It increases critical chance, rather than critical damage.
Improve ability damageAetheric Attunement or Vrakhiri AttunementAetheric supports Witchcraft; Vrakhiri supports vampiric abilities.
Refill Activation Charges fasterPotent Powder of Sharp Mind recipeThe preparation improves charge regeneration in either form; it does not add charge capacity.
Refill Blood ReserveBlood infusionsAnimal, Mortal’s and Supernatural’s infusions restore different amounts. All three descriptions also state that they increase Corruption.
Gain a permanent benefitRazkovniche ElixirIts description specifies a permanent Health increase and a Skill Point.

Minor, regular and Potent versions have different ingredient lists. Compare the version you can make with the benefit you need; a higher tier is not simply the previous potion plus one extra ingredient.

For example, Potent Powder of Sharp Mind uses two Globs of Likho’s Light, two Vials of Aether and one Mercurial Water. The ordinary powder uses Dust of Anachora and Weak Spirits instead of the Likho ingredient and Mercurial Water, so check which recipe you can supply.

Example: preparing Potent Keen Eye Potion

Potent Keen Eye Potion grants a large bonus to critical strike chance with weapons and claws. One craft requires Aetheric Essence × 1, Cave Fungus × 2, Wild Boar Kidney × 1 and Bear Liver × 1.

The regular Keen Eye Potion is not one of those ingredients. Its own recipe uses Mercurial Water, Chanterelle and Wild Boar Kidney. Both versions use the kidney, so account for that shared ingredient if you plan to craft both.

Open the Potent Keen Eye recipe book for its map location. For several planned crafts, add the consumables from their item pages to My journey, then use its materials view to combine quantities with your recorded supplies.
