Silas's Book

Silas’s Book is on the pedestal in Svetlana’s room on the third floor of Aurelius’s Tower. Collect it during Who Pulls the Strings to gain the first rank of Life Lock, then return to Crake at the manumits’ hideout.

My journey
An old tome filled with a plethora of bizarre symbols and scribbles. There is power hidden in these pages.

Finding Silas’s Book in Aurelius’s Tower

Reach the third-floor room

Who Pulls the Strings begins after What Moves the Dead. Crake sends you to Aurelius’s Tower in the south of the map. You can climb this tower during the day or at night.

Defeat the gargoyle guarding the approach, enter by the outside steps and work your way upstairs. Pass the soldiers on the second floor to reach Svetlana on the third. After the fight, inspect the pedestal in her room to collect Silas’s Book.

The book grants Life Lock

Taking the book grants and unlocks Life Lock at rank one. Life Lock is a Witchcraft ability; its ability page explains how to use it and develop the later ranks.

Svetlana’s body also carries the Vault Key and a Cycle of Ruin Manual. Those are separate finds in the room, so search her body as well as inspecting the book’s pedestal.

Return to Crake after taking the book

Go back to the manumits’ hideout and speak with Crake to finish Who Pulls the Strings. Finding the book in the tower is followed by this return conversation.

The floor above Svetlana’s room starts Home Sweet Home. Silas’s Book is on the third floor, so the tower’s upper-floor quest is a separate destination.
