Burn time, the giant-torch bug and Discarded Torch

A single torch has a base burn duration of 360 seconds in Steam build 25232147. Those six minutes are separate from campaign time segments: they describe the light source’s duration, not an objective’s hourglass cost. The property table below lists its weight and base trading values.

If a torch grows to an enormous size, that is a known issue addressed in Hotfix 1.0.4. The official patch notes specifically say that torches can no longer grow uncontrollably. Check your installed update when comparing older footage or troubleshooting that symptom; the oversized appearance is not a torch upgrade.

Discarded Torch uses the same inventory picture but is a separate, half-burnt quest catalyst for Compel Soul. Match the item name when following a soul clue: an ordinary Torch is not the catalyst. Use the Compel Soul reference below for the Discarded Torch entry.

For a hard-to-see interaction, use Focus as well as lighting the area. Focus marks quest-related people and objects in gold, hostile characters in red, and loot containers or harvestable plants in white. Those highlights identify what you can investigate; a torch supplies light.
