Denarius

A Denarius is the gold coin marked with Brencis’s coat of arms. Shop prices use denarii, while an item’s base buy and sell values are starting values for the merchant calculation.

The currency entry has base buy and sell values of 1 and no listed inventory weight. Those values identify the coin unit; they are not an exchange rate for selling a separate treasure item. A merchant’s offer for a weapon, ingredient or trade good is calculated from that item’s own values.

Item level affects the starting price, and active effects can then change what the shop charges or pays. Bewitching Influence and the court’s trade edicts are relevant when a quote differs from the base value on an item page. Compare buying and selling separately: the game does not give every item one shared price in both directions.

When deciding what to carry back to a shop, compare base sell value with weight. A high total price can still be a poor return for a heavy load. The trade-goods table includes a sell-value-per-weight sort, while the armour and inventory guide explains the practical cost of carrying too much.

Purse Full of Coins is a separately named quest item, not this currency entry. Its item name alone does not specify how many denarii a quest will give you. Use the named quest objective or reward when tracking that object rather than assigning it a fixed currency amount.
