Ask the Maragir merchant about Pieter
The merchant recognises Coen as Pieter’s son and recalls his monthly beer purchases. Buy the beer for 100 denarii and follow the lead to the ruined hut in St. Tyna’s Grove, across the river east of Svartrau.
At the hut, use Focus to inspect the snares and the deeply cut training stump. Search the shed to meet Volk. After the confrontation, explain who you are to begin learning about Pieter’s past.
Keep the later drink request separate
Volk asks you to return after a day of rest and bring Slivovitz. That later request is a different drink from Pieter’s beer order; follow the current objective when preparing for another visit.
Buried Past continues through several visits, optional errands and a search for Pieter’s hidden treasure. The beer begins the lead to Volk rather than completing the whole story.
