How to learn Medicus I

The following manual supplies the book unlock for ranks marked “Manual unlock” in the rank table. Skill points and time are spent when you purchase the rank. See the skill book guide for manual requirements and planning examples.

Carry more uses of one consumable into a fight

Medicus I sets how many copies of a consumable one quickslot can hold: six at rank 1, nine at rank 2 and twelve at rank 3, each figure replacing the last. Quickslots are how you reach items mid-fight. At night on any difficulty except Story, a blood restorative such as Vial of Human Blood has to be in a quickslot before combat if you want to drink it during the fight.

Crafting has its own ceiling: most recipes stop once you carry five finished copies, so a stack larger than five of a crafted preparation cannot come from crafting alone. Items you find or buy, such as blood vials, are not bound by that crafting limit.

Forager is the prerequisite, and Medicus I opens Medicus II for batch crafting. All three ranks need Medicus I Manual and cost four skill points and three time segments in total. Vera and the Matriarch in the hidden Uriash village both list the book in their Witchcraft stock.
