Enter at night and collect each prison key on the way down
For the solo assault in A Lone Wolf’s Hunt, approach Greifberg Castle at night and use Shadowstep to climb the front wall. This route does not require the side-gate key. Keep a manual save before committing to the final assault if you still want to finish other quests.
A gargoyle, The Unblinking Blasphemy, guards the upper approach. After the fight, climb to the next ledge and continue past the guards and dogs into the castle. Prepare your nighttime recovery and equipped abilities before climbing the wall.
The upper prison guards carry the Key to the Upper Cells. Search their bodies and open those cells before descending. Farther down, the hellhound handler carries a different Prison Cells Key for the next group of prisoners.
The route eventually reaches a deep chamber descended with Shadowstep. Prepare your consumables before the final door to Brencis. The ending guide compares this solo route with companion approaches; the castle’s 36–50 base NPC range is separate from Svartrau City’s 17–25.

Do not use Svartrau’s city range to estimate the castle’s encounters. Compare the castle’s range with your journal warnings and consult Brencis’s encounter reference before preparing a loadout.
The range describes the region’s base NPC levels. Scaling and the particular encounter can change the enemies you face. Check the quest or enemy’s skull warning alongside your own level.
About Greifberg Castle
Greifberg Castle is Brencis's seat in Svartrau and the prison holding Coen's family. Skender commissioned the stone castle to replace an older stronghold, completing it in 1336. Its walls did not prevent Brencis from seizing power.
