Take silver loot to the Silver Trader in Svartrau’s Neustadt district. Ordinary merchants refuse it because silver is prohibited in Vale Sangora. To open his shop, bring a lead about his business or reach Notorious Infamy, level 4.
Find the house in Neustadt
The trader works inside a house in Svartrau. Stained Letter gives a useful direction: enter Neustadt from the Middens and look for the first house on the right. Enter through the street door and speak to him inside.
Open the Silver Trader’s location on the Vale Sangora map. His merchant icon is a white goblet. Reaching the house and unlocking its trade dialogue are separate steps, so follow the conditions below if he refuses to serve you.
Two ways to unlock the Silver Trader

Letter with a Tip and Into the Den
Into the Den provides an early lead. Follow the Tattered Letter to the nearby house and the cache beneath a flat stone marked with an X. The cache includes Letter with a Tip, which mentions someone trading silver in Neustadt.
Stained Letter is another written introduction to the same business. Read it if you already have it, then ask the trader about silver. You do not need both letters.
Why does he say the shop is not for you?
At low Infamy, a first visit without a lead leaves you with his dismissive replies. Check your letters or raise Infamy, then return and select the silver dialogue or “Let’s trade.”

Keep named quest components separate when deciding what to sell. For example, Flask of Quicksilver is an Arbiter armour component; it is not one of the silver valuables above.
Use the current shop quote when planning a sale. An item’s sell value scales with its level before Bewitching Influence rank 2 applies its 15% selling bonus. Edicts III and VI affect shop buy prices, not the amount merchants pay Coen. If you are carrying silver while the shop is unavailable, shrine storage can help with the inventory weight limit.
Earn 1,000 denarii from silver for Smuggler
The Smuggler achievement requires earning 1,000 denarii selling silver. Its target is the proceeds from silver sales; simply carrying 1,000 denarii from other sources does not meet that requirement.
Bring the silver you find back to the trader and check the sale amount. If you visit in vampire form, choose the trade dialogue when you intend to sell. Feeding on the merchant is a different interaction from opening his shop.

Collect the Finders Keepers silver cache
- At the bottom of The Cursed Chasm, search the skeletons for Treasure Map: Silver Cache and Final Report. Reading the map starts Finders Keepers and gives you the treasure search area.
- From Coward’s Path Shrine, travel east to the fork, then turn north toward an abandoned wooden cabin. Continue north past the cabin to the large rock formation in the clearing. Defeat the wolves and their Pack Leader, then dig up the cache.
- The cache includes Lump of Silver, Silver Cross, Silver Chalice and Silver Brooch. Carry the silver back to the Neustadt trader. If you have ordinary junk or gold valuables to sell as well, his shop accepts those categories too.
Check the waterfall cave and Tiny Dancer’s house
- The waterfall cave near the great bridge northwest of Svartrau Outskirts contains a Manumit silver stash. Mysterious Instruction points to the cave through the saints’ biographies. Search the cave’s skeleton for Arbiter’s Medallion while you are there.
- Tiny Dancer provides another silver-loot stop inside Svartrau. After opening the upstairs cage and freeing the Sanzhana, search the merchant’s room for silver before leaving. The cage key is on a table in the same room as the prisoner.
- Keep silver loot separate from similarly named quest components: Silver Crucifix and Flask of Quicksilver have their own uses. Shiny Teeth also follow a separate selling route through Pearly and Precious, rather than the silver shop.
