Nothing is certain, but these leeches might've been fed vrakhiric blood at some point. Increases Corruption.
Destroy the blood supplies at collector camps
At a collector camp, defeat the guards and interact with the blood barrels to destroy the supply. That route awards Blood Leeches. At Wetland Helpers, the villagers can instead ask to keep the blood; choose the destruction route when collecting leeches.
Wetland Helpers is on the eastern side of the bog in Briar Sloughs, southeast of Mert’s Mill. Unsavoury Solutions is south of the swamp, west of Maragir. Bounty of the Mire lies in the central bogs east of Stoneward Post.
Be ready for a further fight when clearing your third collector camp. The Bloodletter intervenes after the blood supply is destroyed. Defeat and loot him for the separate Phial of Bakir’s Blood, which unlocks or advances Shadowstorm.
Use the leeches as a Blood Reserve refill after dark. They increase Corruption and serve a different purpose from ordinary human food or a boss’s blood phial. A Bakir phial advances an ability; Blood Leeches replenish a resource.
