Ambrus

Prepare the duel without poisoning yourself

Disrupt activities bearing Ambrus’s twin-headed-dragon crest, including his transports, collectors and blood cellars, to build his hostility. His challenge leads to The Gilded Gauntlet in Maragir. Iulian’s optional The Bittersweet Toast quest can weaken Ambrus before the duel.

If you completed the poisoning ritual, refuse the first drink when Ambrus offers Iulian’s blood. Accepting it poisons Coen instead and wastes the intended advantage. Letting the boyar drink first or saying that you do not trust his offer lets Ambrus take the poisoned blood.

Ambrus’s sweeping unblockable attack covers the space around him, so dodge out of its reach. Later in the fight he uses Scarlet Shield to absorb damage and recover health; preserve your resources while it is active. In his last health segment, defend against the rapid attacks from his copies and wait for the real Ambrus to return, since hitting a copy does not damage him.

Defeat Ambrus at night and drain him to gain Scarlet Shield. Draining a poisoned Ambrus also poisons Coen, so account for that before heading into another fight. The later invitation in Anachora determines whether his soul stays with Coen; it is separate from choosing to drain him.
