How to learn Scarlet Shield
Drink Phial of Ambrus's Blood to unlock Scarlet Shield in the Vampirism tree. The phial significantly increases Corruption. The rank table lists the ability’s effects and further learning requirements.

Unlock Scarlet Shield with Ambrus’s blood, then equip it
To unlock Scarlet Shield, accept Ambrus’s blood after defeating him outside Maragir or consume a Phial of Ambrus’s Blood. The phial guide covers its recruitment reliquary and St. Tyna’s Grove locations.
Scarlet Shield works passively after you equip it in the Active Abilities panel. Learning a rank alone does not put that effect in your active loadout. It uses an ability slot even though you do not cast it like an attack.
At rank 1, a Perfect Block restores 20% of a health segment. A Directional Block has a 20% chance to trigger that restoration, and an Omniblock has a 10% chance. The healing amount and the chance of triggering it are separate numbers. Higher ranks change those values and add effects shown in the table.
